Only if you want to, LOL! Hollywood likes to bring everything to the extreme, hypnosis is no exception. So many takes on hypnosis have been in the media and out in society. In actuality hypnosis is something everyone goes in and out of every day.
Stage hypnosis is not fake, in fact quite real. Stage hypnosis seeks out a certain type of individuals that would perform well on the stage. When you go to a show you usually see the hypnotist ask the audience, who wants to come on stage to be hypnotized. Then when once the people have been picked and are on stage the hypnotist will ask of the participants questions and one by one the hypnotist will remove people or let them stay. This is a process of understanding who will be hypnotizable on stage. A stage hypnotist is focused on finding a specific type of person. In an audience there tends to be about 20% that are stage hypnotizable.
a Hypnotherapist is trained in the individual. It is the hypnotherapists job to learn their client and proceed with the best techniques available to reach the goal. It is the hypnotherapists job to learn the individual that is coming in for help. Understanding how they see the world and how they believe the world sees them. How they interact in their world, etc. If your hypnotherapist can speak and understand your language then you will have success with your sessions and the changes you are looking to achieve.
So the basic difference is : Stage hypnosis is about finding a specific person or type of people for the show and Hypnotherapist is about finding a specific method or methods for the person looking for help. If you haven’t already, check out my article on, ‘What is hypnosis?’
